Given information is not the enemy, to achieve freedom you simply need to demonstrate that you are not a slave to it. Not compelled or addicted.
On the light end, you can decrease your exposure to information sources (doom scrolling & Fox/CNN on in the background). Maybe try a Harm Reduction Approach and lessen the amount of time for these. Just know information faucets are the source of manipulation, dis-information, exploitation and suffering as much as value. They are figurative gateway drugs if you are not careful nor equipped.
On the heavy end, I recommend the most powerful protest of sensory indulgences to prove no slavery chains. Meditation is a non-dogmatic way to control your mind and liberate you from this form of slavery. It involves seeing the mind for what it is and choosing a stubborn object of focus while your addiction(s) squirm for control. Your mind will do amazing things to take you off of this abstinence of thought and information. Mindfulness-willed neuroplasticity will break your information addictions along a pathway to glimpse full liberation from slavery. Do you want to be half-free or full-free?
