Warning, taboo topic: Ever ponder what happens after you die?
Some believe it is heaven and hell. Some, nothing or dust in the wind. Some have variety within one philosophic view called rebirth. Let’s explore the facets of this latter view a bit as it is kinda fascinating. Maybe it will help you to not come back as a dog or something, a perk worth continued reading.
You don’t have to believe in rebirth in order to leverage diversifying your approach to death and the afterlife. It can easily be paired with heavenly pursuits!
What follows are opinions of one dude in a question and answer format.

How is it decided?
Lets start with what it is not.

Is it how you die?
The moment western medicine calls the body’s death is not the moment that rebirth is decided upon. Otherwise you are screwed if you get hit by a bus.

Is it about your sin(s)?
Your “sins” can shape it but are not absolute or definitive on the outcome.

If not these, then what?
Like tethers, each attachment pulls you in one direction or another.

So I am in a bondage situation and need to use a safe word like “Jesus”?
I don’t think it hurts given we’re all diversifying. It could be God’s safe word.

How do I get untied, unattached?
Meditation helps you adopt neutrality and equanimity towards these attachments.

What do you get if you work on this?
If something shapes the ‘heaven’ outcome, would you like to look into it?

How do I become an animal?
Do you act on animal instincts? This can be stealing, sex, rage and sociopathic tendencies.

How do I get reborn as a human?
Rebirth as a human is the number 2 preferred outcome of our frequent flyers program.

So if I have good Karma from this life I am guaranteed a good rebirth?

The ego/self doesn't like this outcome
Egos don’t like to be eliminated. They like their attachments including the ideas of another life or a permanent afterlife in heaven.
